In 2019, the Estoril Conferences changed venues for the first time in their history and took place in their new home - the Nova SBE campus.


The 2019 edition was, therefore, the stepping stone for this new era of the EC. The new Estoril Conferences, powered by Nova SBE and Cascais Municipality, is the physical evidence of a place of freedom, dialogue, cooperation, rigor, and seriousness done with responsibility, purpose, and consequence. A platform where our youth can actively engage with leaders and opinion-makers so that together they can design a future of hope.

Therefore it was time to rethink the brand's visual and verbal identity to reflect its present better while honoring its past.

We had a lot to work with but also some challenges:

How do we represent the brand's legacy while transporting it to the present (and future)?
How do we create a stand-alone brand but clarify that it is a project owned by Nova SBE?
How do we make it youthful but not childish?
How do we explain that what we do is rooted in principles of collaboration, dialogue, convergence, and action?

Visual Identity

We started with the brand name. The name Estoril Conferences was chosen because Estoril has always been a place of confluence. A strategic entry/exit point during WW2. The perfect place to bring together different perspectives while looking at the same clear horizon. A table where the leaders of today sit down and debate with the leaders of tomorrow.

We took inspiration from Estoril's architectural style to create a typeface marked by round shapes and arches, resembling those found around the Casino Estoril. The letters were then shaped individually to align with Nova SBE's flagship brand.

The visual universe is composed of several elements, the main one being a set of geometric shapes that were inspired by the horizon line and by looking at the Estoril Conferences as the vanishing point from which different shapes and perspectives can arise.

These geometric shapes represent central ideas behind our brand, such as the convergence and divergence of opinions, the possibility of creating windows of opportunity, and the idea that the Estoril Conferences are the common ground where all these perspectives meet to discuss a more hopeful future.

In order to further connect with Nova SBE's visual universe and impart a truly proprietary feeling to the Estoril Conferences brand, a collection of exclusive illustrations has been developed.

The color palette is diverse and colorful, just like the people and topics that make the Estoril Conferences such a unique and rich event.

Verbal identity

To establish the new brand positioning, we developed new narrative guidelines that included a brand manifesto and the next edition's concept pitch. To consolidate the intent of putting youth at the forefront of the Estoril Conferences, the 2022 event will be dedicated to the Purpose Generation - those who, no matter how old or young they are - want to become the change-makers of tomorrow.
