GLOBAL MIGRATION.
LEAVING HOME IN A GLOBALIZED WORLD.

SCOPE OF WORK:

- EXPERIENCE DESIGN
- GRAPHIC DESIGN
- WORKSHOP FACILITATION

HUSE Innovation was chosen by the Estoril Institute for Global Dialogue to develop the user experience for the 2017 Estoril Conferences, a 3-day event around the topic of GLOBAL MIGRATIONS.

For the first time the event was open to the general public and it was necessaray to rethink the experience beyond just the conferences.

How could participants be further engaged with the topic? How can we make the event more informal and accessible to everyone? How can we deliver a more meaningful and memorable experience?

Based on the 3 pilars of the Estoril Conferences brand - knowledge, impact and networking - HUSE Innovation developed a series of experiences to materialise these concepts in the event venue:

LOCAL IMPACT LAB

An 8-hour collaborative workshop, facilitated by HUSE Innovation, where the participants used the design thinking methodology to develop solutions to two migrations-related challenges.
To provide additional inspiration and knowledge to the participants, guest speakers and mentors were invited to give their view on the subjects.

TIME CAPSULE

A physical capsule dedicated to the future where participants could leave a video testimonial about what they thought were the biggest challenges to be faced by migrants and refugees in the next two years. The output will be a video compilation of all testimonials that will be showcased in the opening ceremony of the next edition of the Estoril Conferences in 2019.

ACTION WALL

Focused on the pillar "impact", the impact wall was a speaker's corner where start-ups with migrations-related projects could share and promote their work with visitors.

GLOBAL CAFÉ

A series of informal debates where specialists joined participants in an informal conversation about migrations-related topics.

EMPATHY BOX

An area dedicated to the development of empathy with the refugee crisis. Using headphones, visitors could listen to recorded calls for help made by refugees while trying to cross the mediterranean.

MIND MAP

An area where participants could share their view on migrations using a specially developed software that created a word cloud in real time. The HUSE Innovation team then used those inputs to consolidate the information into one all-emcompassing statement at the end of each day.
